When LCD and Plasma technologies came along, screen displays got much thinner, bigger, and a whole lot lighter. 3M have pushed the envelope even further with a product called Vikuiti RPF. What's so insanely cool about this product is that displays can be designed in so many different shapes and used with any transparent surface. In short, Vikuiti RPF makes LCD and Plasma monitors seem outdated.
The name Vikuiti (vie CUE ah tee), comes from morphing the words "visual" and "acuity." It's a flexible, self-adhesive rear projection film containing a black resin layer to absorb ambient light. Sandwiched in this layer are millions of tiny glass beads that highly focus the projected light. The result is a vivid image with exceptional contrast that can be viewed at any angle. Not only is the image of better quality than LCD and Plasma screens, the Vikuiti RPF also allows for some fantastic looking displays to be created. Since it's a film, it can be cut to any shape or integrated with other graphics such as signs, posters, etc. The possibilities are endless!
